Young and Healthy

October 2008 saw the start of a project to motivate youth and others to be more active. The project, which is situated in Tunjice, provides a variety of users the opportunity to improve their health and prevent illness.

The strengthening of civil society and non-governmental organizations is one of the key goals of the EEA and Norway Grants, which are provided by Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein. Hence, in January 2008 the new €1.7 million NGO branch of the Financial Mechanisms was launched in Slovenia.

To an increasing extent we are witnessing the tendency of young people to spend more and more time indoors, often in front of the television or a computer screen. Therefore, a project involving efforts to activate youth and others was launched in October 2008. The project, which is based in Tunjice, not far from Kamnik, will involve a wide variety of users. The first step of the initiative is to construct an outdoor exercise course where users will receive recovery treatment, as well as guidance on how to prevent illness. Initially schools and a number of other institutions are to participate, while it is envisaged that also other groups will participate in the future.
