Inter-generational center opened in Murska Sobota

22/10/2009 // Nongovernmental organization Slovene Filanthropy opened on 30th of September a new inter-generational house named “Fruits of Society” in the town of Murska Sobota.Present at the opening ceremony as guest of honor was also Mr. Runar Jensen, from the Norwegian Embassy in Ljubljana.

The reconstruction of the house was a project financed by the EEA- and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms, and partly by the municipality of Murska Sobota. It is intended for volunteers of all generations to meet and organize different common activities.The project “Fruits of Society”, which aim is to connect generations, was founded by the Slovene Philanthropy, associations of pensioners and some other organizations and has been in operation since 2006.

Director of the project, Tereza Novak, said that the project is going to be realised in a period of 32. months. Partners in the project are Slovene Philanthropy, Association of Pensioners Murska Sobota, Network of Associations of Pensioners of Pomurje, primary school of Murska Sobota and the municipality of Murska Sobota. In the long run the financial part will be taken care by the social enterprise established for that purpose.
