Cultural Heritage cover a wide range of topics and possible co-operation areas could among others be:
- Conservation of wooden structures
- Fire protection of listed buildings
- Integrated environmental approach
- Archives, libraries and museums in a knowledge and culture based society
- Other cultural heritage related areas in line with the MoUs
For additional information about national priorities, please consult the National Focal Point in your country or the Financial Mechanism Office in Brussels at www.eeagrants.org.
The contact points below will be pleased to discuss possible co-operation projects. They can also assist you in identifying suitable partners and provide examples of projects, both in the areas highlighted above and in other cultural heritage areas.
An important objective in the MoUs is that the EEA Grants should strengthen EFTA states/ Norway's relations with the beneficiary states and increase co-operation on common challenges related to cultural heritage. This co-operation should build on EEA /EU legislation and on the priorities of the countries covered by the EEA Financial Mechanisms.
Why a Norwegian Partner?
In Norway, cultural heritage and nature have traditionally been considered as elements of equal importance in the total environment. The Ministry of the Environment is therefore responsible for the protection of monuments and sites. An important tool in this regard is the Planning and Building Act, which provides a good basis for incorporating cultural heritage protection in local planning processes. However, museums and intangible cultural heritage are the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs. Other ministries (such as Defence, Petroleum and Energy, Transport and Communications, etc.) have a separate responsibility to include the preservation of cultural heritage in their general activities. Norwegian government agencies co-operate closely with a wide range of cultural heritage NGOs in Norway. We would like to share our expertise and experience in this area with partners abroad.
