Bård Owe gave a short introduction to the movie where he mentioned that O’Horten was a story about people and how to love. Odd Horten is the name of the main character in the story. We follow him in his last days of his working life and his first days of retirement. It is moving to see how challenging the step away from daily routines can be.
As Bård Owe stated after the movie, many people let their working life determine who they are. This is the case of Odd Horten as well, but as newly retired he realizes that he can change. With fresh experiences from his first days as a pensioner he takes off into a new life. The movie also points at an important debate of equal opportunities by referring to female ski jumpers.
After the movie Bård Owe was available for questions from the audience, and female skijumpers became a topic during this session. The movie theater, Kinodvor, ended up inviting the Slovene Olympic Comittee to a special showing of O'Horten followed by a round table discussion on female skijumping.
The showing was rounded off with a reception with refreshments and Norwegian candy in Kinodvor’s café after the showing.
