Norway vs. Slovenia in Davis Cup

08/03/2010 // The first round of Davis Cup took place during the weekend 5th to the 7th of March. Norway met Slovenia, and the tie was played at Riksanlegget in Oslo.

Davis Cup is an international tennis tournament for male national teams. Female teams have an equivalent tournament in Fed Cup. The national teams play two single matches on Friday, then a double match on Saturday, before ending with two single matches on Sunday.

Norway and Slovenia are playing in the Europe/Africa Zone, level 2 in Davis Cup. Even though Norway had the advantage of a home court, they lost the tie. All five matches were won by Slovenia. This means Norway will go to the play-offs and meet Monaco. In order to avoid relegation to level 3 they have to win. Slovenia on the other hand, will go to the quarterfinals (second round) of Davis Cup and play Bulgaria. Bulgaria beat Monaco 3 to 2 in the first round. Both the play-offs and the quarterfinals take place during the 9th to 11th of July.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ljubljana wishes both teams the best of luck with their upcoming ties this summer.
