During the last half-year there have been several events involving the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ljubljana. In September an inter-generational center partly financed by the Norwegian and EEA Financial Mechanisms, was opened in Murska Sobota. In October the embassy invited all EU-27 ambassadors and ambassadors from the Western- Balkan countries to an excursion to the town of Radovljica in order to inform them about EEA-Grants and Norway Grants. Also in October a networking-lunch for 30 female leaders was organized, where Inga Marte Thorkildsen gave a speech on recruitment of women to political positions.
February 2010 was filled with events for the embassy. The Norwegian movie O’Horten had its premiere in Slovenia at Kinodvor, Ljubljana. The main actor, Bård Owe, was present at the showing. The topic of female ski jumpers was raised during a discussion after the movie. The result was the movie theater inviting the Slovene Olympic committee to a special showing of O’Horten, followed by a roundtable discussion on female ski jumping. A great sports event took place in February. Larvik HK came to Ljubljana to play against Krim Mercator. In connection with the visit, a lunch was arranged for the team in the ambassador’s residence the day before the exciting match. Also Alexander Rybak found time to visit Ljubljana this month. He performed at the Slovene final for the Eurovision Song Contest (EMA).
Concerning business, Norkring d.o.o. signed in March plans regarding launching of their digitalization services for distribution of commercial broadcasters in Slovenia. Norkring d.o.o. is a subsidiary of the Norwegian based company Norkring International which is owned by Telenor. In March, the embassy had the pleasure of attending a presentation on a project concerning intergenerational knowledge in Zalec which is funded by the through EEA and Norway Grants. The Ski Flying World Championship 2010 in Planica took also place during this month. It was as usual a cheerful event, and the Norwegian jumpers managed to win both silver and bronze medals. The embassy used the occasion to host a reception together with Oslo 2011 and Vikersund 2012 to honor long historical cooperation and friendship between Slovenia and Norway in winter sports, and to present and promote the next years' skiing and ski jumping events in Norway.

Nongovernmental organization Slovene Filanthropy opened on 30th of September a new inter-generational house named “Fruits of Society” in the town of Murska Sobota.Present at the opening ceremony as guest of honor was also Mr. Runar Jensen, from the Norwegian Embassy in Ljubljana.Read more >
The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ljubjana invited all EU-27 ambassadors and ambassadors from the western- Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) to an excursion to the town of Radovljica on the 21st of October. The intention was to show the ambassadors the renovation project that had been carried out in the city with the Norway Grants and inform them about this financial mechanism and the EEA- Grants as well. Larvik HK made a short visit to Ljubljana in connection with their match on Friday 19th of February against Krim Mercator in the handball Champions League. The Norwegian ambassador, Guro Katharina H. Vikør, invited the team to lunch the day before their important match. Larvik HK had never won against Krim Mercator in Ljubljana, and was therefore determined on victory this time. Read more >
The Slovene finale for the Eurovision Song Contest (EMA) has a tradition of inviting the international Eurovision winner from the previous year to participate in the show. Alexander Rybak was no exception, and on Sunday 21st of February he performed before an eager Slovene audience. Read more >

The best ski jumpers in the world were gathered in Slovenia during the 18th to the 21st of March as the Ski Flying World Championship 2010 took place in Planica. As usual, the event of ski flying in Planica turned out to be a great celebration. The Norwegian jumpers performed well, and ended up with bronze and silver medals. Anders Jacobsen secured the bronze medal in the individual competition, and the silver medals were a team achievement. Friday evening the Norwegian Embassy in Ljubljana together with Oslo 2011 and Vikersund 2012 hosted a reception to honor long historical cooperation and friendship between Slovenia and Norway in winter sports, and to present and promote the next years’ skiing and ski jumping events in Norway.
